Visit to the lagoon treatment plant in Oshakati, Namibia

As part of the FMRTS-funded development project WaReNam (Water Reuse Nambia), a visit to the lagoon treatment plant in the town of Oshakati in northern Namibia took place, in which employees of TU Darmstadt also took part.

A pilot plant for advanced wastewater treatment will be built here in the near future. The pilot plant, consisting of a trickling filter, pile cloth media filter and UV system, is intended to show how wastewater can be treated for agricultural use.

Meetings were held with the project partners, including the Town Council of Oshakati, the Institute for Social-Ecological Research (ISOE) GmbH and the University of Namibia, to coordinate the upcoming project steps.

FUCHS Enprotec GmbH is involved in the design of the trickling filter and the construction of the pilot plant. Mecana AG is involved as an associated partner with the provision of a pile cloth media filter.
