FUCHS Aerators at the sophisticated UPM Fray Bentos Mill, Uruguay

In June 2025, FUCHS and our representative, ECOWATT S.A. in Argentina, visited the facilities of the UPM Fray Bentos mill in Uruguay. This ultra-modern and impressive mill, located right on the border between Uruguay and Argentina, produces approximately 1.3 million tons of cellulose pulp per year, which it exports to Europe and Asia.

Eight FUCHS OxyStar® aeration units have been operating in its two immense equalization basins for over nine years. They deliver excellent performance, low OPEX, and almost zero maintenance due to our equipment’s unique propeller design without submerged hubs, seals, or bearings, thus requiring no maintenance. This facility provides UPM Fray Bentos with state-of-the-art aeration technology to maintain its pretreatment capacity and save energy. UPM Fray Bentos is undoubtedly one of the most important references for our aeration systems in one of the most sophisticated paper production processes in Latin America and worldwide.
