Visit to the lagoon treatment plant in Oshakati, Namibia

As part of the BMFTR-funded development project WaReNam (Water Reuse Namibia), a visit to the pond wastewater treatment plant of the city of Oshakati in northern Namibia took place, in which staff members from TU Darmstadt also participated.

In the near future, a pilot plant for advanced wastewater treatment will be built here. The pilot plant, consisting of a trickling filter, pile cloth filter and UV system, is intended to demonstrate how wastewater can be treated for agricultural use.

To coordinate the upcoming project steps, meetings were held with the project partners, including the Town Council of Oshakati, the Institute for Social-Ecological Research (ISOE) GmbH and the University of Namibia.

FUCHS Enprotec GmbH is involved in the design of the trickling filter and the construction of the pilot plant. Mecana AG is participating as an associated partner by providing a pile cloth filter.
