Overview
The FUCHS NitriStar System enables the simple and economical retrofitting of existing lagoons with additional growth surface area and oxygen for nitrification.
The system consists of two components:
FUCHS OxyStar® aerator
Multiple FUCHS NitriStar modules
A NitriStar module consists of:
Ground anchoring
Flexible surface for nitrifying bacteria
Device for installation and subsequent removal
The aim of the process is the biological conversion of ammonium to nitrate (nitrification). The FUCHS OxyStar® aerator supplies the wastewater with the oxygen required for this purpose and conveys the water-air mixture to the FUCHS NitriStar modules.
The FUCHS NitriStar modules provide a large growth surface area that the nitrifying bacteria colonise. Excess biomass detaches on its own and can settle without clogging the modules. Thanks to the vertical and horizontal flow through the modules, they are also largely independent of lagoon depth.

NitriStar Biofilm System works together with other FUCHS products. Only in combination do they form the complete process.

Provide a large growth surface for the nitrifying bacteria that convert ammonium to nitrate. Flow passes through them vertically and horizontally, making them largely independent of the lagoon depth.
