Treatment of dye-laden textile wastewater.

Wastewater from textile finishing

In the textile industry, wastewater is mainly generated during the processing of raw cotton and during the dyeing and finishing of yarns and fabrics. Alkaline wastewater from the mercerisation of raw cotton is best neutralised with flue gas. After fibres and fabric residues have been screened out, a mixing and equalisation tank usually follows. The biological treatment of the wastewater can take place in aerated lagoons, possibly in combination with an activated sludge stage as the final step, or in a low-loaded activated sludge plant.
