Aging disc rotors in the oxidation ditch were increasingly affecting the performance of the wastewater treatment plant in Kenly, North Carolina. Particularly during the summer months, maintaining the target dissolved oxygen (D.O.) levels in the basin became increasingly challenging.
In 2025, two OxyStar® aerators (15 kW / 20 HP each) were installed to improve oxygen levels and mixing. Installation was completed within just a few hours, without the need to dewater the basin or interrupt the biological treatment process.
Since installation, the OxyStar® aerators have improved D.O. levels and mixing while reducing the load on the existing equipment. With virtually no maintenance required, the aerators provide a simple and reliable solution. The customer is very satisfied with the solution.
